Gazette comes out once a week, in issues. An issue is edited as a whole: a cover, a contents page, and a handful of pieces that were chosen to sit next to each other. Nothing is published in between.
The work is reported. Writers go to the pumping station at four in the morning, to the second shift at the bakery, to the lift shaft between floors, and write down what was there. Pieces run long when the reporting earns it.
